Healthy Food On The Go!

by admin on September 15, 2015

It seems that 75% of our health and fitness outcomes are directly due to following a proper nutritional regime. We can workout until the cows come home, but if we are filling our bellies with items that make it difficult to stay well and fit, then we are diluting all of the hard work we are putting in else where. Some may start the day great, and slowly things decline throughout the day. Some are not eating enough, and others may be too much of the wrong things. So what is the ideal? There are some rules that one can follow, but just be sure you speak to your doctor as to be sure these are appropriate for you. To follow a healthy LifeStyle Regime, it would be best if you were able to eat 5-7 small meal/snacks throughout the day. I know that this seems like a ton of food, but it is not. Grazing, with healthy options throughout the day will help speed the metabolism, decrease weight, stabilize blood sugar, as well as, allow the body to feel satiated rather then depleted daily. Again, in general, small meals and snacks that are higher in protein, fat, and fiber are great choices. Items filled with simple carbohydrates should be avoided. For example this is what a sample meal plan might look like:

8am: eggs and cheese
10am: protein shake, OR nuts/seeds and cottage cheese
12:30pm big salad with any protein like turkey, chicken, or salmon, cheese, nuts, avocado and dressing.
3pm: cheese, nuts, celery, or carrot sticks with dressing, OR almond or other nut butter on celery or apple
5:30 4 oz of protein, a dark green leafy veggie like spinach, kale, or broccoli, and 1/4 cup of quinoa
8:30 1 egg, OR hand full of nuts/seeds, OR 1/4 cup of cottage cheese

In this type of regime, one enjoys good fats like olive oil, nuts, butter, avocado etc. Fat satiates the body and mind, leaving one feeling happy rather then depleted. Too, as you notice it seems like you are eating all day. Well… you are. The body appreciates being fed good food. Think of it like a car. It runs hence it needs gas and so do you. All this takes is a tiny bit of preparation as to be sure you are packing your food the night before if necessary. Too, if you are on the road or traveling, be confident to pull over and simply grab a pre package of protein in any grocery store. Too, when eating out, feel free to be specific with the the server with what you want and what you don’t want. If you know you want to avoid certain items, let the server know NOT to include them on your plate so you are not tempted. You can do this! It is not rocket science, but it does take preparation and the WILL to follow through. Again, you got this. So if appropriate for you, go print this, and head to the store to go food shopping. The ball is in your court.

With Gratitude! Rock it out!
